Celebrating First Reconciliation & First Communion
Children need to be baptized, at least 7 years old and in the second grade in order to receive the Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. Sacramental Faith Formation is a separate program and is not a part of the regular faith formation process (religious education classes). All children wishing to celebrate First Reconciliation or First Communion must be enrolled in a Faith Formation program. Children are encouraged to attend Sunday Mass weekly, as well as Holy Days of Obligation.
Parent involvement is vital to the success of our First Reconciliation/First Communion Ministry. All parents are expecting to assist in some way. Please complete the 2020-2021 Parent Involvement Form *Click Here* online no later than November 9, 2020.
A Sacrament Information Form *Click Here* must be filled out online no later than January 18, 2021.

2020-21 Sacrament Guidelines for First Communion: Fasting is required for one hour before receiving Holy Communion. This means that no food or drink is taken for one hour prior to Communion. Water and medicine are allowed. “Special occasion” clothes, such as those worn at Easter would be fine. You need not buy new clothes; we trust your judgment as parents. Practice will be one half hour before Mass in the St. John Paul II room unless you are told otherwise. Each family has one pew reserved for their family. Other friends and relatives are welcome to sit in the unreserved pews. Let us all practice the fine art of Christian hospitality. Photography/Videography: Out of reverence for our prayer together, we ask that no candid pictures or flash photography be taken during the ceremony. You may take unlimited pictures before and after the ceremony. Reception: A reception with punch and cookies will be held after each First Communion Mass. Your family and friends are invited to celebrate with you. If you signed up to bring cookies for the First Communion Reception after Mass, please drop them off in the kitchen of Friendship Hall before Church.
