As a group of believers and doers, we are committed to assisting the
St. Francis Community in becoming thoughtful stewards of God’s Creation. Our call to protect Creation is a major theme of Catholic Social Teaching. Precious Planet Ministry promotes opportunities for learning and challenges parishioners to make changes in their daily lives in order to create a sustainable future for all people of the world.
Activities & Events:
*Parish education on Pope Francis’ Laudato Si(Care of Our Common Home)
*Ongoing creation care education through the bulletin and presentations
*Joining with other parishes throughout the U.S. in belonging to Catholic Climate Covenant and taking the St. Francis Pledge for Creation.
*Restoration and maintenance of a native plant garden and management of informational markers.
*Intercommunity tree plantings
*Promote recycling in the parish
*Promote alternative means of transportation to get to church through bike racks and carpooling.
Future Events:
*Member representation on the Hardscape Committee as needed.
*Ongoing parish sustainability practices
*Ongoing parish educational initiatives
Time Commitment:
Meetings scheduled as needed. Need not attend meetings to belong. Occasional work days for projects

Love of nature and the out-of-doors.
Concern for our less fortunate
brothers and sisters
Belief in Pope Francis’ Encyclical, Laudato Si or an openness to learn
Participation:
