Knights of Columbus

Description:

The Knights of Columbus is a Catholic Men’s Fraternal Organization founded on the Principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.

Knights recognize that our mission, and our faith in God, compels us to action. There is no better way to experience love and compassion than by helping those in need, a call we answer daily.

Members of the Knights of Columbus all know that – together – we can accomplish far more than any of us could individually.  As a Knight of Columbus – you can count on the support and encouragement of your brother Knights as you work to make life better in this parish and area communities.

Individual Knights, who give thousands of service hours in the parish and local communities each year, illustrate how Catholics serve each other in fraternity and mercy.  Whether it’s in public or private, the Knights remind the world that Catholics support their nation and are amongst the greatest citizens.

Activities & Events:

The Francis X. Hoffer Council 14504 membership participates in and supports numerous activities and events throughout the year donating time, talent and treasure.  Some of the major beneficiaries of our charitable support include Mount St. Mary’s Seminary, individual Seminarians, Elizabeth’s New Live Center, Special Olympics, Alzheimer’s Association, St. Vincent DePaul, Green Inc., and others.

Faith in Action programs include: supporting the Rosary Rally, Coats for Kids, 5th Sunday Rosary, Respect Life activities, and Building the Domestic Church booklets.  Other activities include the annual Easter Egg Hunt, Anniversary Dinner, Parish Picnic, and a Memorial Mass for deceased members. Local fundraisers include the spring mulch sale, spaghetti dinners, and donut Sundays.  We closely collaborate with the St. Francis Men’s Club on fund raisers, other projects, and general support of the needs of the Parish.

Time Commitment:

The local Council typically meets the 2nd Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm with Rosary 30 minutes prior to the business meeting.  Attendance is encouraged, but not required. Meetings are normally one hour or less. Monthly Newsletters are sent out and other notices are sent as needed.  Members are strongly encouraged to volunteer in the Parish and our local communities.
