Description:

Troop 116 is part of the Miami Valley Council, Wright Brothers District.  We are the oldest troop in Centerville, having first started in 1940 and have over 100 Eagle Scouts on our honor roll.

  • If your son wants to be a Scout to make friends and have fun, we can provide those opportunities.
  • If he is interested in outdoor activities and camping, we will do our best to give him a chance to see and do new things.
  • If your son is interested in earning the rank of Eagle, we will do everything we can to help him reach that goal.

Scouts BSA is a SCOUT LED activity.  The scouts in the troop learn leadership, self-advocacy and problem solving.

Our troop is currently only open to boys, but contact us if you are interested in a girl led troop and we can point you in the right direction.

Many of our activities are open to the family, and we are excited to have you as part of Troop 116. Let’s go have an adventure!

Activities & Events:

Our meetings are on Monday evenings, from 7:00pm to 8:30pm, at St. Francis of Assisi Church.  In each meeting, we have an opening, work on requirements, merit badges or other scouting related activities, a game (if time permits) and finally a closing (circle up). We discuss upcoming camp outs, past camp outs, hold troop elections, and much more during our Monday night meetings.

Our troop goes on a campout or outing every month, making it a great troop for an active scout. We go on many different types of outings, including skiing, caving, biking, wall climbing and backpacking.

There are also many service opportunities throughout the year for our scouts to participate in.  We have helped garden at St. Leonards, built benches at schools, assisted the park district in cleanup, worked elementary school carnivals and planted trees to name just a few!

Every summer the troop takes a group of scouts to summer camp where they can work on requirements and merit badges, and choose many other adventures.  Older scouts (14+) also have the opportunity to go on high adventure camps in the summer months including deep sea fishing in the Florida Keys and canoeing in the Boundary Waters of Minnesota.

Scout Oath:

On my honor, I will do my best

To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;

To help other people at all times;

To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake and morally straight.
