Divorce Ministry

Description:

We understand how deeply people and families are hurt by divorce/separation and we want you to know about our DivorceCare group.  It’s a place where many people have found that they can begin putting their lives back together again. No matter what the circumstances, divorce/separation is a painful process for most people.

DivorceCare recovery seminar/support group is a special help video seminar series featuring nationally recognized Christian experts on divorce and recovery topics.  The video seminars are combined with support group discussions of the materials presented during the video program.

Activities & Events:

Sessions include such topics as “Anger”, “Loneliness”, “Grief & Depression”, “Financial & Legal Issues”, “Forgiveness”, etc., and information on the Catholic Church’s annulment process.

Each November we offer a special two hour program on a Sunday afternoon called Surviving the Holidays.  It is conducted in the same way as the longer seminar by showing a video about holiday survival followed by group discussion. This program offers a safe place for people to learn how to deal with all the demands and emotions the holidays can bring struggling with a divorce or separation.

Time Commitment:

Register at www.divorcecare.org for one of two 13-week seminars conducted at St. Francis.  One starts in September and the second starts in January. Classes are Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:30 p.m. in the St. Clare Room.

Each participant will need to purchase the workbook online after registration has been approved by the contact person of the ministry.  Scholarships are available if needed.

Helpful Attributes:

The leadership team consists of three men and three women who have gone through divorce and the DivorceCare program.  Because of the immense healing we have experienced we wanted to give back to the church community and volunteer our time to walk alongside people who are struggling with divorce/separation.
