Sunday IGNITE! – Exploring Our Catholic Faith

Sunday evenings (7-8:30 pm) beginning August 25

Social time to gather and catch up starts at 6:30 pm

As a Discipleship focused Youth Ministry, IGNITE! desires to reach as many high school teens as possible. This year IGNITE! will offer high school the opportunity to gather on Sunday and Tuesday evenings. Sunday IGNITE! will take place at St. Francis of Assisi in the St. John Paul II room beginning with social time at 6:30 pm. We will explore current topics and issues in light of our call to follow Jesus as disciples with our topic discussion and activities beginning at 7:00 pm and end by 8:30 pm. Tuesday IGNITE! will be held at Winan’s Coffee (4425 Feedwire Rd, Centerville). Tuesday IGNITE! will give our high school teen the opportunity to explore the upcoming Sunday reading. Part of this exploration will be to discern how to live as disciples of Jesus through his Word.

Prayer is a very big part of IGNITE!, so we will be providing many opportunities for prayer including XLT Eucharistic Adoration just like we have been for the last few years. We will participate in Encounter Dayton. Encounter Dayton is like our XLT Adoration, but on a bigger scale as many of the Dayton Area parishes join together to give praise and to worship Jesus through the Eucharist. There will also be the opportunity for receiving the Sacrament of Reconciliation at these events.

Being a part of the larger faith community of St. Francis of Assisi is also important to IGNITE! We will therefore be plugging in to Generations of Faith and inviting our families to come with us. On those Sundays, we will be gathering in the afternoons and not in the evening.

Our Core Team will meet monthly when possible to plan events that are service, social and community building. Our Core Team is open to all high school students.
